So It Seems
So It Seems
A single tear
Escapes mascara-ed eyes
Slips down a silky soft cheek
The first drop from a spring rain
That begins as a shower
And becomes a storm
All she seems
The pretty clothes
The perfect hair
The laughing blue eyes
A lie
All she really is
Pained and haunted
Scared and depressed
Falling to pieces
Bit by bit
Is held inside her fragile heart
The only way to release the pain
Is a slice, a cut
The blade of craft scissors
Against baby soft skin
The scrap of a manicured nail
Tearing the surface
And release
Flow of blood
Flow of tears
Flow of pain
And it is done
Now
Put away the pain
Hide the fear
Put the pieces back together
And plaster on the smile
That they all want to see
Or so it seems
