We’re hungry lions, prowling through the mall
Searching for the perfect prey
As we slink by a glassy window, we find it
Faded pink denim
Soft blue cotton
Silky black floral
We attack
Claws tearing
Teeth snapping
Fur bristling
We emerge from the battle
Calm and collected
Twisting and turning
Capturing every angle in the polished mirror
After determining that
The denim is to scratchy
Blue so isn’t my color and
It’s way too flippy and short
We continue to search
Dissecting our prey
We find nothing
As we search,
We morph back into teenage girls
Because lions don’t care how their prey makes them look
And we do
