Sweet Surly Speech

When i was little/I used to point a chubby finger toward the dark sky/And ask my father/why some stars moved and others didn’t/He would laugh and explain that some were airplanes/I still wish on them today ~ Laugh-It-Out
The feathers of a crow are black/The ink of my pen is blacker/The pain of my heart is blackest~ Mckay
If love produced a blossom/I’d take it in my palm/What a blessing, the bright color!/How soothing, such a balm!/I’d keep a petal for my own/The rest, drop from my hands/For such a flower would multiply/And populate the lands~ thesilentraven
And I began to rival legends/Long entombed before my birth./But for all my much envied fame/The lust for more would not abate./The plaques and prizes with my name/Will, like all things, disintegrate. ~ TheEpic95 now known as Helena_Noel


Speech might hurt
Yet speech might heal
And ‘tis speech too
That makes a cold-blooded, feel
If phrases of thunder,
Many before it, kneel
Yet it may prove to be
An imprudent person’s Achilles heel
She, sometimes in truth
Oftentimes, in lies deal
As hard as diamond
May pierce through steel
Though she can win hearts over
‘Tis also her that them
In cold coffins seal


The author's comments:
How our little words have big consequences...They can act in so many different ways; Give hope, tak e it away, lead and mislead, break hearts and win hearts, express love, express hate,... I tried to capture a few of those ways in this poem.

Thank You so much Hamza! I love alliteration too, also doube contradictions and irony, so I try to incorporate it all in my writing oftentimes I do succeed. And yes, these words " 'tis", " 'twas", " 'twere"... they seem to flow so much more easily in poems that their full forms, so I do so adore them. And Thank  You. Yours is a nice name as well. My name is my favourite name though I'd have to say. Short, sounds beautiful and speaks for itself. Plus its mine so double points LOL ...Hey,, you didn't need to say anything else. That was a lot. This short poem is a great combination of ideas, images and personified abstraction( in the second half). You possess something magical with words. I love the alliterated title. "Sweet" and "surly", a great oxymoron, since it's for speech. that 'Tis has become a signature of Saphira(Dua). You got a nice name, by the way. I don't know what else to say. 5 Stars!!!
