To the Girl Who Got Famous
When you know the girl who became famous
You call her up
But she doesn’t answer
You want to say congrats
To the girl you knew better than most
You rolled in the grass on sunny days
And walked down the street at night, laughing
With the girl who had suddenly attained fame
You thought she would never change
But she did
She’s with them now
But you can see it in her eyes across the room
That she’d rather be with you and her old friends
Stuck in the corner, joking about old times
And how you all came to be
And she turns back to them
And fakes a laugh and a smile
Because she’d rather be famous and have no friends
Than have fun and be a nobody
