Devil's Girl
I wake but I do not sleep
 (I am a ghost)
In the childless cries of the morning
 He wakes with me
 (the devil)
 Don’t be scared, dear
 He snickers
 And pale as moonlight
 Shines upon my toes
 He cackles and says
 I’ve got your heart
 And it’s mine
 But I say you’re wrong
His eyes grow wide and lower,
In anticipation, waiting for the foolish to go on
 And I tell him
You have my soul, but my heart
 Is mine to keep
And he droops, lets go of me
 And I scream
Because everything was just a dream
And I’m just a girl with no devil by my side,
 Waiting for eternity
