I am the bond
The promise you couldn't keep.
The thing you thought you loved
before the ocean got to deep.
I am the hand
You let go of to leave.
When you thought you were alone
And that no one could see.
I am the words
That left your lips
Eroding people
Chip by chip.
I am the promise
You decided to break.
I gave you something
You refused to take.
I am the heart
You knew would shatter.
When you thought your life
Would never matter.

Powerful poem, I was surprised at the end and had to read it twice (always good) and the second time it was  a whole new meaning.  Short and sweet verses, but still so deep.  Love it!
