Waiting
I walk along these streets,
Alone, and as I walk,
I wait.
I wait for joy.
The small tendrils of soft,
Golden,
Happiness.
So small, yet
So powerful.
I wait for peace,
Unity,
A world free of war,
Free of hate.
A world full of love,
Full of laughter.
I wait for family,
For soft hugs,
For comforting kisses.
Mothers baking cookies,
Fathers playing baseball.
An endless love,
An unwavering protection.
Most of all,
I wait for hope.
Binding us together,
Tying us as one,
Forever, even now as we fight,
Kill,
Scar,
Betray.
There will always be hope,
Somewhere.
I will never give up searching.
