Love is patient
1 Corinthians 13: 4-7, What is Love?
Love is patient
through struggles he holds on.
Love is kind
he’s a selfless friend when all else seems gone.
It does not envy
but is thankful for the blessings of others.
It does not boast
he desires no praise but wants the best for his brothers.
It is not proud
he does not claim “too good” for this or “better” than that.
It does not dishonor others
out of respect, he takes off his hat.
It is not self seeking
but acts upon others’ fears and their needs.
It is not easily angered
his own temper, he heeds.
It keeps no record of wrongs
but is quick to give grace.
It does not delight in evil
he stands strong to its face.
But rejoices in the truth
for honor brings joy.
It always protects
accepts the sacrifice, is willing to deploy.
Always trusts
with the past, the present, the future.
Always hopes
to speak life into others, knowing nothing’s secure.
And always perseveres
he works hard
desires no easy route
and accepts trials as lessons
that Love may teach throughout.
