Somewhere at the peak of night,
Tucked away from the light.
Little ones are told to fright.
Once the clock strikes twelve, night creatures begin to dwell.

Faint footsteps stumble off the bunk bed.
Sneaky little ones, frozen at the sight darkness.
"I'm not even scared."
Said you could hang with us, "I'm big enough."

Airy winds cast dim light shadows
Fear hovers the mists, you can feel the howls.
You stayed up too late.
Little too curious of your fate.

Danger whispers in your ear,
You dance around its clutching fingers.
The nights wonders tingle your imagination.
The mischief of the dark are a fascination.

Midnight illusions give you the thrill.
The whispers of the dark bring a lofty chill.
The warning is in red but you desire.
Playing with fire is what inspire.

You taste danger with an appetite.
The hunger for freedom, to fly without wings.
To dance with merry in the wee hours.
Breaking rules, like being barefooted in the rain showers.

But listen now little ones.
Don't go playing once dark comes.
The forbidden apple, you ponder the taste.
But no such things exist when you stay up late.
