Thy Daily Bread
I make my bread like everyone else
A drop of potent desperation
Six cups of secrets kept
A pinch of salt
To make you balk
An ounce of sweat and tears
I bake my bread like everyone else
Cooked by passion
And cooled by defeat
The hopeless dreams
That turn into steam
Fueled by all my fears
I eat my bread like all of them too
One bite at a time to move the mountain
A harrowing task to be sure
Ardent lives
And dulling knives
Make for bittersweet motives
While we conspire
Loaves expire
And hunger slowly nears
