I Don't Know
I wanted to hold you
so I did
and I smelled the roses.
I didn't think you knew
what I wanted
was more
but you kissed me first
and your lipstick stained
my skin.
my hair
longer then
tangled in yours
and I wanted to weep
and laugh at once.
eventually
the perfume washed off your hands
and the sparkles came out of your eyes.
the end,
I knew,
was near
but love I never wanted it
to be this way.
