Threadbare

the threadbare backs of children you wear like armor
while your silken garments glisten
beautifully in the sun that
scorches the water from their
parched throats; and yet you dare say you
want their oil,
their cotton,
their food,
when you never wear the same thing twice, but
even their skin looks like the
tattered rags they
can no longer
afford
