The Wild Drop
I am dropping downhill
On a slope of rubble
My palms are bleeding
From the impact
With vigor
And fury
I lift myself up
My knees torn open
My jeans in shreds
My Chucks are dirty
Laces are muddy
Electric blue strings
Untied
I wiped my wounded hands
On my sweatshirt
And look over the horizon
To where the sun is burning
My planet to ashes
I put rocks in my pockets
Stones in my ears
Rub salt on my cuts
I tie my laces together
Double knots over each
And tear the lower half
of my jeans off
I have a spider in my mouth
A snake around my neck
And a scorpion ornaments my
Shock of hair
But I'm ready to face the wild
They call adolescence
