Love Song in a Bottle
Talking to you,
It brings back these memories and feelings,
They're indelible marks in my skull,
The strange way you hesitated before leaning in,
And the way you pulled me close,
The sweet smell of cigarettes on your breath,
You put your arms around me,
Like nothing else could get inside.
And you had to go,
You didn't leave me there,
But everywhere I looked,
You had gone so far away.
Didn't you know,
How much you made me feel like myself?
And when you're gone,
I feel so empty like I had forgotten who I am.
Soon enough,
You came out from your hiding place,
And you noticed a sweet girl of only 17,
You wrote poetry about my mind and body,
And again I felt your arms wrapped all the way around me.
Maybe this is what it means to love,
When he knows who you are when you've forgotten,
When he reminds you of all of your feelings that make up your being,
To feel so beautiful again.
