some days
sunset pink
bleeds into fire engine red
catches the light
and turns into the burnt orange
of autumn
such a beautiful day
the sky a canvas of colors
to my untrained eye
I'm walking down the silver sands
of the shoreline
my bunny hops after me
his tan and ebony black
cinder gray smoked coat
glistening like rain
beneath the ever gathering
approaching dusk
the rusty links of swing sets
squeak in the balmy slight breeze
catching on the ends of my thick
hair twirling like ribbons in the wind's song
such a happy moment
projected into the realm of dreams
time is suspended
I can be anything I want
I can do whatever
I can spin
dance
pirouette into nothingness
scoop up my bunny
into my strong tanned arms
and throw him up toward the
creamy night
where he plummets back
to Earth
on feathery wings that
I imagined sprouting from his sides
and glides right down into
the pebbled shoreline
right beside me
in my dreams
there's nothing standing in the way
of reality
I am free
to wander
