Psychology has never only been about
learning Freud’s crazy theories
and the sexual phases children go through
as they build connections with their mothers.
Psychology has always been more about
using the given resources at the time
to find meaning
in the connections between our midbrains
and our forebrains and our spines.
And though we clearly can’t forget its roots,
this misconception is largely the reason
why psychology is still seen
as a soft science.
