Sidewalks
We must have paced those sidewalks dozens of times,
I thought I’d never have it better.
Songs played in my head,
I guess they were just in mine.
Somehow we’re ashes and wine,
I can’t help but wonder why?
We were driving down the back roads,
Didn’t realize how far off we’d gone.
The fire from the night before’s burnt out,
Only the empty glasses remain.
Damn I miss when everything was warm.
Just thought I was in the back seat, minding my own.
