My Escape

I would sit in the car

for a long ride
resting my mind
listening to music.

It would play
pop and rock
the old hits,
the new hits,
and everything in between

It would block out
the world behind me
and speak to me like
no one else can

Music would show me
things I never knew
things that I would
have never known

Then I hear the screaming
of my brothers
snapping me back
to my reality
