Me and I in Time
With eyes wide open
They show me what was once invisible
A new world and both alike
Unparalleled to mine
I sit in buttery comfort
Absorbing the energy
Waves of curiosity
Shower me with
Jealous thoughts
Of a life
Where I can live
A completely new human
Me is not I
I am not me
Yet I watch through the bars
Unable to join
Steel so cold
Fairly rigid
My hand slips past
My heart elates with melting sorrow
I have the choice
You have the choice-- she says
Believe it
Believe her
The me who I want to be
Can feel my presence
Warm substance
Will not freeze against the metallic
Monument that holds me back
You have the choice
She says once again
Will I be the me
I wish to be?
Time will tell
