The last smile
The last hug
The last breath
What were you thinking?
Scars swirl around your body like a red ribbon never leaving no matter how hard you fight
A smile on your face never falters, tattooed forever, but inside crumbling as if a fire was destroying a piece of paper
Always quiet, fluttering around like a butterfly faltering through the heavy wind
Inside you were screaming, but no one would possibly hear you
Why didn't you scream louder?
The wall you built turned into a mountain, something that no one could walk over too rescue you
Days with you ticked by, timing until it would fatefully blow up, smashing everything in  its path
You never complained, helping everyone, but not having enough time to save yourself
At night, your head is filled with horrific nightmares, every night telling yourself it never happened, even though the nightmares were memories
You thought the only way out was the bliss of leaving everything, forgetting everything
Your last thought was, save me as you stepped into the cold wind, climbing up, closer to the heavens, the wind kissing your face as you fell into the arms of blissful silence
The last smile
The last hug
The last breath
Why didn't you let me save you?
