Mr. Worldly Wiseman
Mr. Worldly Wiseman, to whom do you bow down?
When you imagine the King of your life,
Onto who do you place the crown?
Is it the source of all your pleasure,
Or the barrier to all your pain?
Is it legality, civility, or something perhaps more vain?
Mr. Worldly Wiseman, help you did offer to me.
For I so desperately longed, from my burden to be free
Yet the solution that you offered
Seemed to falter and collapse
Like a shaky house foundation,
Your salvation did not seem to last.
Mr. Worldly Wiseman, now on my way I will go
I will journey to father places, learn things you do not know.
But I will think of you often, wondering to whom you will repent
Or if you will live a short life, stuck in secularity and content.
