Broken
I want to talk about pain.
How their lives had to break
And bend and twist and how
No one would come to save them.
How they ached and yearned
And cried and starved,
But only in secret,
For no one really cared.
How they writhed and raged
And burned and convulsed.
Their thoughts tortured them,
And they hid behind too-bright smiles.
Talk depression and anxiety,
How they tear you up inside.
They keep you from having friends.
And they force you to hide.
Talk schizophrenia and bipolar disorder,
How they cause emotional breakdowns,
And how they affect your behavior.
“Why am I saying things I don’t mean?”
Talk anorexia and bulimia,
How they destroy you
From the inside out,
And distort your reflection.
Talk PTSD and panic disorder,
How the world comes to a screeching halt,
And you’re unaware of your surroundings,
And you just want to feel alive again.
Talk insomnia and stress disorders,
How they won’t let you rest.
How they drain you mentally,
Emotionally, and physically.
I want to talk about hurting.
How you always feel so alone,
And no one wants to be around you,
And how you learn to keep it all in.
