I Wish

I try to think kindly of myself
I really do
I just fail.
Epically.
Not even epically,
because nothing I do is epic.
When people say I’m pretty
I scoff
When people say I’m smart
I think they’re lying
I don’t agree with any of them
But I wish I did
I wish I could look in the mirror
and love what I see
I wish that I could take a compliment
I wish so much
without acting
I wish I didn’t hate myself
I just wish I-
