I Never Wanted to Hurt You
I never wanted to hurt you
You don't have to believe me
Friends are friends
That's what they say
But I thought we could break the rules
Be together anyway
But then I thought a bit too much
And then I ran away
And I never wanted to cause you pain
I think I've used that line before
It's true though, what I'm saying
And I wanted you to know
I know I'm a coward
I gave up and made you go
I never gave you a chance
Or gave us a chance to grow
I never wanted to hurt you
I know it's a cliche
I thought I could tear down my walls
And give my heart to you
I wanted so to let go
And take on a different hue
But I guess I'm still too scared
To let anyone break through
