jugged milk shimmers
spilt milk spoils
lunch milk slithers down
     down dry throats
     between table cracks
cheap cartons crushed,
     kicked,
     heartbroken and tossed away
$2.39 a gallon for vanilla
     no one calls is that
drink your milk, moms say
fill up
pink, orange, blue cups
     full of it
     sometimes chocolate, sometimes pink
     but
     almost always plain vanilla
vanilla, vanilla
plain vanilla
plastic rings
pink, red, blue
silly things
always landing in cereal bowls
Coco Puffs with chocolate
Lucky Charms with pink
Mommy thinks it’s silly
she thinks we should have vanilla with all
vanilla, vanilla
plain vanilla.
