Waves of Life
Twilight melted away,
Eyes steady on the horizon,
Lighting up the faces of all those who gaze upon it,
The soothing lavender and blazing amber,
Seeping over the water and pouring onto the land.
The chill of the air biting into my skin,
The morning as awake as the tides and just as unstoppable.
Waves rolling in,
Long,
White fringed waves.
Wind whipping my hair everywhere,
Salt encrusted eyelashes,
Bare toes scrunching into the sand,
Waves washing over my feet.
Waves rolling in,
As strong and as bold as the last.
They come without fear of the beach,
They embrace their destiny upon the white sand.
The waves come briefly,
But are always there,
The color of the water changing as the sun goes out,
But is always familiar.
How could I ever fail to love the scent of the ocean,
How could I ever fail to love the waves as they dance inward and crash on the shore,
How could I ever fail to appreciate the cold salty breeze,
How could I ever fail to love something that brings me so much joy?
