The Perfect Day
The clouds are soft white pillows,
dancing across the sky.
Their shapes change like seasons
as the wind begins to sigh.
The trees are swaying slowly,
birds commence to soar.
I close my eyes and daydream
to prolong my time outdoors.
Green goes on for acres,
a blue I see, so bright.
a motor’s hum and cricket’s
chirp have never sounded so right
The world is at a standstill,
time frozen just for me
How great it is to close my eyes
and still perdure to see.
I will lay our here for hours
until the sun begins to rest.
My disappearing troubles are replaced
with a swarming in my chest
Until later can I hope
for another day like this to come,
so I can lay out here and write again
for hours and then-some.
