Egypt, my Home.
The seventeen hour plane ride never feels like a drag.
In fact, it fills me with excitement and anticipation.
Once the plane’s wheels hit the asphalt it feels like
we could not get off the plane any slower.
We soon become greeted by our friends with warm hugs.
Their simple smiles send me into a serenity.
Egypt, my home, finally after a year.
To many, it is a place of danger.
To me, it is rest for my soul.
My happy place, filled with my people.
An oasis where His Kingdom is expanded,
while the rest of the world seems to shrink.
The smell of gas, the dirt layering the air, and
hundreds of honking cars filling the unorganized streets.
Oh, the sound that always reminds me of this desert.
It may not seem like a country that a girl
longs to return to, but to me
it is a place of memories and joy.
I am back. Egypt, my home.
I long to never leave.

I go to Egypt every summer with a group of college students for a month. It is my all time favorite place.
