The Robin
Slowly and gently the waves roll up the ocean sands, and onto my bare toes. My feet sink slightly into the moist sand, and the cool breeze harmonizes with the sound of the gulls in the air above me. The waves of the ocean reflect the peach and purple sunset us they curl up onto the beach in front of me, and pull my stare to the still and lonely sky. I think to myself, how lonely the sky must be up there all alone, watching down on us, like a mother watching her children. The sun slowly starts to slide behind the dark mountains at the end of a never ending horizon, and the sky starts to fade. The now auburn and scarlet skyline beckons to me, letting me know that if I were to fly free with it, my fears and troubles would be left behind behind, like unwanted treasures, buried in the sands of time. In that moment, I knew that if I were a robin, I would let my wings carry me until my scarlet chest faded into the setting sun, and I was forgotten.
