Little Crayon Bluebird MAG
The little bird chews at light
It slurps dreams like worms
Rests in a twiggy nest
With misshapen beak, one-webbed-toe.
I was bright: six years old.
The world sharp
With timid chirps
Stirred, little bluebird so close.
It will flop on the nest
Seeking fortune never found
The far away art
Sings the heart bereft
Little bluebird never flies
With smudged picture and plan
The crayon beady black eye
Into earthy blue
And wax dreams I forgot were tart
Little bluebird so far
