The sun pushes,
my eyelids closed.
I take the pills.
I learn to shut up.
It still burns me,
now and then.

I understand how it feels to hide your problems from others, I also suffer from mental illness as a 17 year old girl.
The burning societal suppression of expressions of both physical and mental illness is addressed in "Shut-Eye." After years of hiding my pain for others' convience, I finally expressed myself. Immediately afterwards, a decade-old disorder was announced to be cured in a month. I said nothing.
