Fate or Freedom?
From mother’s hold to passage of death,
Are we to cling to Fate’s cold breast?
Are we, as we are, always to be?
Or can we, somehow, someway break free?
For me, I simply cannot choose,
To cling to Fate or let it loose.
To be complacent, to wait for cues
Or leave behind the dear excuse.
For one is comfort, a mindless rhyme,
The other is daring, temptatious time.
To choose, to choose! It's hard, you'll find.
For both can be merciless, both can be kind.
Is it enough to just do what’s right,
An effort, a struggle to go towards the light?
Many believe in fate, many believe that the future is dependent on how we act, some aren't quite sure either way. In this poem, I wanted to tackle the idea of fate and how it might impact the person who believes in it, leading the reader away from the debate and more towards the idea that it might not matter as much as you think.
