Take my Heart and Break It
October 11, 2009
Take my broken heart,
and rip it from my chest.
Steal away my soul,
and finally put me to rest.
I dreamt about you day and night,
and I wanted you to be mine.
You watched me in my hardest days,
and sometimes you watched me shine.
Every time I saw you,
my heart would skip a beat.
Every time you said my name,
I would spring out of my seat.
I loved you with my heart and soul.
I loved you year after year.
But something always kept us apart:
our confusion, our chances, our fear.
But now there is no hope for us,
we are doomed to be apart.
Maybe I won't feel the pain
if you completely break my heart.

This is so amazing! It truly spoke to me in ways I didn't know possible. I had no clue anyone else suffered the way I did. This is one of the best pieces of writing I have ever read. Brava!!

I like this sonnet it's very relatable to many people and it's a topic that intrigues people.
I think the first sentence could use some help because a lot of people describe a broken heart as a million broken pieces I don't think it goes so well with tearing out of someone's chest.

@epic_bird2021 thats how i feel often when im reading. actually, most of my experiences andcultural nowladge is from realistic fiction books.(cuz that's not sad) that's also how I feel when I write(seririosly, I'm not depressed! or sucicidal! I'm not!)

Man, I have yet to experience something like this, but this poem gets the sorrow and pain across so well that I can almost feel what this is like. I feel bad for the people that have gone through this.

Well written but a truly great poet can be strong and vulnerable. Poetry is not always about ryhming but the truth of one's heart.
