Peeta Mellark is basically Katniss’ other half. The sweet, blonde boy from the bakery back in district 12 has grown and changed with Katniss through both the 74th and 75th hunger games. Through the years, the two have seemed almost inseparable as they struggled to deal with the emotional damage surviving the games and being in war with the Capitol left them with. Then, directly after all chaos broke loose following the rebels’ hacking of the Quarter Quell, Peeta was captured by the cruel capitol. He was then hijacked, making it impossible for him to be able to tell what was real and what wasn’t real. This caused him to have a disturbing mindset and want to kill Katniss. Everyone was mortified at Peeta’s newfound hate at Katniss, and every measure was taken in attempt to somehow return Peeta to his originally state. Fortunately, through a recovery game called real or not real, Peeta and Katniss’ relationship was restored and they ended up getting married several years later.
