I see the new kid come into the room,  his eyes downcast, studying the floorboards so he doesn't have to meets anyones eyes. But still, I know him. I see him everyday, hidden in the folds of society. He's the young boy who sits alone on the playground. He's the elderly man on the street corner, begging for change. He is the man who comes home from work and wipes dust from weary eyes.

He sits in the back of the classroom, tucked away in a secluded corner. Alone.

I walk over to him, sit next to him. Slowly, he looks up at me, his crystal blue eyes darting around my face, never meeting mine. Poor puppy.

I break the ice. We talk, and he relaxes as he peels away the layers, the brick walls, that pad his fall into a new world. He opens up and tells me things. Wonderfull things.

I see fire on the horizon. The fire of a new life.
