Planned Parenthood MAG
At last some free time and nothing to do. Perhaps someone suggests you volunteer somewhere. "Where?" you ask. Most people would probably suggest a hospital and that is an experience that I believe everyone should have. However, there are many other places in need of volunteers.
Last summer I volunteered at a Planned Parenthood administrative office. I was given the option of doing a variety of things. You can volunteer in a clinic, a library, or many different areas in the office. I chose the library, and it was an experience I will never forget. My duties involved working on the computer, typing, watching videos, alphabetizing and doing odds and ends. While working, I had an opportunity to learn new things and provide a service to the dozens of people who seek information on a wide range of issues.
Many people think Planned Parenthood is just a place people get abortions; however, through my experience, I learned that Planned Parenthood does much more. They advise and educate men and women of all ages about a variety of personal issues. The most important aspect of volunteer experiences is the people you meet. The staff at Planned Parenthood is incredibly dynamic, interesting, helpful and friendly. Once you start helping people there you may never want to leave; give volunteering there a try, it will be fun! fl
