Water on a Lily
Her smile is bright as the October moon,
Her petals white as the snow beneath my feet,
Her stem; strong
Her mind wonders of curiosity as she drifts on
A green, leafy pad in the water,
The clouds above threaten to pour;
She awaits to drink up the knowledge;
To quench that thirst for
Wisdom once more,
Her heart big as the open sea;
Sings songs to every melody,
And yet as the world ‘round her is slowly dieing,
From the monster she calls man,
Mother earth drops her tears one last time;
And they fall like pouring rain,
That splashes;
Water on a lily
That used to sing,
But now in a big, big human world,
There is
Water on a lily.
