Understand
In the summer of last year,
Was beginning of the fear,
Was he coming home?
This war was taking him away,
So now my life is on delay,
As he left me here alone.
As the leaves fall below,
He’s leaving, please don’t go,
Afghanistan stole my desire,
He brings my heart to my knees,
And emerges my tears like a disease,
Afghanistan set my soul afire.
But as he turns the corner,
I choose, I will no longer be a mourner,
As I unleash my heart from his hands,
I must keep breathing,
And, this pain is seething,
But, one day you’ll understand.
