welcome to new york city

Big city dreams
filled my head
with lights and
people and
buildings.
My veins became
subway tracks;
my heart sent
trains this way
and that.
I fell in love
with hope and
possibility;
they couldn't
seem to fall
down on me.
Disappointment
and I have become
quite intimate,
but this is truly an
abusive relationship.
