“Be yourself”
That’s what they all say.
It’s really a lie.
You can’t, you just can’t
Be yourself.
Because once you let someone know
Who you are,
You’re vulnerable.
Ready to be attacked.
We’re smarter than that,
We’re never ourselves,
We’ve formed and adapted to keep
The deepest of the deepest thoughts
In the back of our minds. Never to be told.
Because two can’t keep a secret,
Unless one of them ceases to exist.
