Listen Here
I don't know why

I say the things I say. I try

 to keep my mouth tied

in a knot that can never be undone.

 I aspire to be

 quiet.

Not so that people can't hear me

but so they don't see me.

So they don't look at me.

Because the first thing anyone notices about me are my eyes.

 Dark.

Near black, hiding things no one knows.

Thoughts lurk that I don't allow myself to think about.

Who knows what kind of things I see?

 I don't.

 I don't look.

It just takes the beauty away.

 Why look at something,

 none of us truly see?

 I see you.

 I see you there, hiding.

You tell me you love me.

 You proposed to me, silly.

You saw it in my eyes then, I

 cried.

 You made me happy.

Girls like me don't deserve to be happy.

We never did anything for the world.

 I never did.

 Just another little girl,

 trying to be.
