The mockingbird
Just as its name applies
Silhouetted against the opague sky
I watch as melodizes the songs that he's borrowed
Trying them each on one by one
Seeing which one gets him the most attention
Trying to attrack that one mate
With a voice that is not his own
And once I gaze up again I see myself reflected in it's eyes
A Petite little creature coveting attention
Trying on lots of different faces to see which works best
And he's up there perading around doing his little tricks
Before coming back down and trying on yet another voice
