Field of View
Watch the fire breathe
As it inhales and exhales and begins to seethe
 Blackness paints the sky
Along with a thousand shrieks and a cry
 When today is gone
 How will we move on?
With ashes falling on our faces
And burnt shards leaving no traces
 You don’t know you groan
I know shortly I’ll be alone
Do we get up and walk away?
Or do we crouch and pray?
 Our lungs can’t filter through
And we are losing our field of view

A muffled cough and then you’re gone
If you only lasted till dawn...
Now I am left alone watching the sun rise
And all has gone silent including the cries
Dawn passes and the smoke begins to fade
 Just as I had prayed
