Against the World
“The world forgetting, by the world forgot.”
-Alexander Pope
We go through this world
searching and waiting for that
other piece of our puzzle.
We make mistakes and they
cost us priceless things, some
worth more than our own lives.
We find and lose all of these things but that's what makes us who we are today; it shows those around who we are.
Now imagine waking one day and
realizing everything and everyone
you knew and loved just slowly
slip away until finally all that is left is a blank canvas waiting to be painted but there is no way to.
That canvas will never be filled again as you sit there and wait for that eternal end.
Slowly after that you’ll slip away
just as that canvas did and the world will forget who you are.
Death is painless some say but what
happens after that, does it hurt that a world where you grew in doesn't care anymore?
Will you be able to move on and
just leave right after you’ve died?
Though that maybe the case
you will be able to know that
those closest to your heart
will never let go of who you are,
even if the world still goes on.
You will never be forgotten in
our eyes.
Together forever and always.
