My Voice
Silence.
Long silence.
Don’t speak.
Don’t think.
Don’t care.
Wait, wait, and keep on waiting.
For?
Don’t know.
Close my eyes,
Block my ears,
Make a fist,
Bite down my teeth,
And wait.
Shhhhhh!
Don’t speak!
Don’t think!
Don’t care!
Just wait!
No matter how long,
The avalanches will melt;
The earthquakes will stop;
The floods water will recede;
The volcanic eruptions will harden
And the air will be clear.
So will the voices in my head.
Hold back.
Don’t cry.
Don’t listen.
Don’t want.
Just wait.
Just endure.
If can’t stop it anymore,
Then bite down on your arms.
Ignoring both voices,
Whether it’s Reason or Madness.
Wait, wait, and keep on waiting.
Until the rain stops,
Until the water recedes,
Until the wind starts,
Blowing all away,
And then—Smile.
