Don't
You strike and light the match
that errupts my forest into
a thundering burning geyser
and then you slide on a mask
of bewilderment, wondering
why this forest is burning up?
Just look at your hands and
how the ashes are resting in
the creases of your palm and
peeking out from under the
tips of your fingernails.
Don’t burn me up and then
wonder why the fire licks
the border between the dark
of the solar system and our
trembling Earth.
Don’t.
