With a smile, I close your hands around my heart—
“Cherish it”—because I know you will.
With every little step you take
You show me a bit more of youth,
and all that it can be.

As day breaks in a burst of laughter,
I offer you my jacket and my shoulder.
We are children together, you and I,
As hand in hand, we meet the morning sky.

And one by one, the lilies greet the field
As one by one, the lights of dawn appear.
